Hi! My name is Stephanie. I am a senior Advertising & Marketing Communications student and am extremely passionate about making a positive and lasting impact in the world of advertising.
Before I get started, here's a little about me:
I have always lived in the majestic and captivating Southwest. I absolutely love the outdoors - soccer, snowboarding, four wheeling, camping, hiking, jet skiing, scuba diving, you name it. I love to travel and really just experience all that life has to offer! I have been told on many occasions throughout my life, that I smile way too much - I can't help it though :) I tend to be an optimistic person naturally and have a strong sense of self. My family, dearest friends, and faith are the most important things in my life. I love meeting new people, helping anyone I can, making someone's day, and living a full life of purpose, love, and happiness. I enjoy learning about new cultures, listening to others, and discovering what makes a person unique.
Now, the main thought process behind this blog:
Even as a little girl, I had an intuition that someday, somehow, I would find a way to touch many people's lives and make a positive difference in the world.
In 2004, Dove launched the Campaign for Real Beauty. After the launch, Oprah did a special on the campaign and introduced its mission, strategy, and efforts to make this campaign truly change the way people look at and define beauty. One of the first ads from the campaign was put up in the middle of times square and raised a lot of conversations and questioned the ad.
I happened to go on my 8th grade trip to New York a few months later and saw the ad myself. My whole future was determined by seeing that ginormous billboard in the middle of Times Square! I knew from that point forward that advertising could be the medium for how I could make a difference. Yes, I'm well aware that commercials and ads online can definitely get annoying at times (some still get to me, too), but so many other times, they can make you smile, laugh, reminisce, question, believe, dream, encourage, move, and change the way you look at the world.
From that life-changing campaign, here I am. Because of the Campaign for Real Beauty, I am on a mission to be a part of the change in traditional advertising and use people like you and I to do so.
I have a lot of great things in mind for this blog, so I hope you enjoy reading!
